Beautiful Souls

“Everyone has a beautiful soul.” The first time Stacey said those words to me, I’ll admit it took me aback for a second. Everyone has a beautiful soul? The crusty old man down the street? The mean teenage kid? The wretched super mom? All of them? Yes. All of them. Somewhere deep inside they, too, want to be known and loved and at Beautiful Soul Designs they are taking that to heart.

Stacey Cartwright, a west Tennessee native, her husband Jody and their family started Beautiful Souls Designs about 15 years ago. They loved their business and customers (whom they call “Soul Sisters” because they love them soul deep!), but a couple of years ago it began taking over their house. For several years they had run a networking business called “Ryze” while they also made the shirts. Going live on TikTok with their jewelry led to going live with shirts, hats and more. Ultimately their online customers were what gave them the confidence boost they needed to start the process of opening their storefront.

They began looking for the right space for their burgeoning business. Stacey says, “Everyone needs something in life that they can be proud of.” So, with her son Brett in the designing department, last year they found the perfect location and opened their first brick and mortar “Beautiful Souls Designs”. The storefront has given them the ability to expand and create even more of the items they are so well known for.

Want to show your school spirit? They can do that. Want a trendy leather patch on a hat of your choice? They’ve got you covered. How about a tote bag to spread a beautiful message? Everyone will be asking where you got it. Words just don’t do justice to describe the variety and quality of all that is available, so you really need to stop in and check them out for yourself. Hats, T-shirts, hoodies, tote bags and more are all canvases for Brett’s designs. I need to pause here to tell you Brett is a high school senior with talent and maturity far exceeding his age. He knows design and he can make your wildest ideas come to life!

The majority of their designs are made in what’s known as DTF or direct to film. This is different than screen printing because it allows for custom shirts to be made without having to cut new screens which can be costly. It also makes designs easy to replicate so that they can make your custom logo exactly what you want on whatever you want. If you truly need screen printing done, they can do that too, but it has to be in bulk orders. They’re happy to help you get whatever design you need whether it be DTF or screen printing. They even make DTF designs for other business owners. The businesses can send their design to Stacey or work with Brett to make their creation, then their machine can make the prints and business owners can then purchase them for their own design businesses. I asked Stacey about the competition. She assured me there’s more than enough business to go around and that living with the mindset of abundance allows us to lift each other up.

Embroidery is the next thing on the list, which they hope to offer in the near future. Also, I learned that they recently hosted a birthday party where shirts were made for those attending. Stacey says they love to host events like that. Are you looking for a team-building event for work or what about a fun girl’s night out? Talk to Stacey and make your event something unique!

Finally, I asked Stacey what was next for Beautiful Souls Designs. She laughed softly, her face lighting up at all the possibilities she was dreaming of. Maybe another brick & mortar? Finding a way to combine their networking business, Ryze, with their custom design business? Classes? Becoming a one-stop shop for everything custom designed? Oh, yes, these are all on her list; but at the end of the day she said, “Whatever God wants is what we want.” So, for now she and Brett will keep designing for the community, supporting the folks in it in whatever way they can. Small business at its finest!
